Aseptıc loosenıng

  • Total knee replacement provide a comfortable life approximately for 20 years. Especially to relieve of the pain and get back function enhance a satisfaction of patient.
  • However, a waering and loosening could be occured with time due to mechanical overloading on between the surfaces and bone with time. We call aseptic loosening without infection.
  • Patient complaints for pain and limitation of Daily living activity.
  • Almost laborotary parameters (WBC, Sed, and CRP) are normal.
  • There is radiolucency between bone and surface of implant.
  • As soon as possible, surgery should be performed.

  • However, an infection could be occured in early (first 3 months) or delay of period. We call as septic loosening due to infection.
  • Patient complaints for severe pain, effusion, redness, and limitation of Daily living activity.
  • Almost all laborotary parameters (WBC, Sed, and CRP) are very high.
  • There is radiolucency between bone and surface of implant.
  • As soon as possible, surgery should be performed.
  • We performe two surgery for infected prosthesis.
  • In the first stage, we remove all implants and all infected soft tissue and bone.
  • Then we put a spacer with antibiotics.
  • We deliver an antibiotics depending on culture for 6 weeks.
  • Following clinic of patient and all lab parameter get back to normal, we plan to perform second stage.
  • In the second stage, we remove spacer, do debridement again, and put a new revision prosthesis.
