Total Hip Arthroplasty

Total hip arthroplasty is an operation to replace a hip joint that has been damaged for primary or secondary reasons and has severe osteoarthritis. The loss of cartilage in the joint leads to wear of the articular surfaces. This, in turn, causes pain and leads to loss of movement. The patient has difficulty walking and doing other daily activities.

Total hip arthroplasty surgery is applied to stop the pain, increase mobility and make every day activities easier for the patient. Before surgical treatment, other treatment methods should be tried (painkillers, walking sticks, physical therapy, etc.). It should always be kept in mind that the one who will make the final decision on whether his condition is serious enough to require a hip arthroplasty or not is always the patient itself.

The direct benefits of hip replacement are:

• Relief of pain, in some cases its complete disappearance
• Increased mobility
• Correction of disfigurement
